The Chiefs losing streak continued and this time it was a 10-5 loss to Buffalo that cost them in the standings. Geremi Gonzalez took the loss but he only gave up three the runs. The other seven were given up by James Vermilyea who appeared to be in there taking it for the team in a tough outing.
Curtis Thigpen had a nice game and he went two for four with a two run homer. Sal Fasano finished with two hits and one of them was a solo homerun.
The Chiefs’ hitters were held in check yesterday in a 4-1 loss to Rochester. Sal Fasano drove in the only run with a solo shot and he was also the only Chief with two hits.
Jason Scobie had a nice start but he didn’t get a decision. He gave up one run on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings of work. Blaine Neal gave up three runs on two homers in the bottom of the eighth to lose it.
This was a tough loss. The Chiefs were down 4-0 and then Kevin Barker, John Hattig and Sal Fasano hit back to back to back homeruns in the top of the seventh to tie it. Unfortunately, Blaine Neal gave up a ninth inning run as the Chiefs let this one slip.
Geremi Gonzalez was hit hard in his start. He gave up four runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in just 1 2/3 innings.
Four different Chief hitters had at least two hits but the end result was just one run. Sal Fasano accounted for the lone run in the 3-1 loss. He went two for four with a solo homerun.
A really good start by Dustin McGowan went to waste. He gave up a single run on six hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in five innings of work.
