The Fisher Cats lost both games in their doubleheader against New Britain and they scored only a single run in each of the two games. The first loss was a 9-1 blowout where Kurt Isenberg was shelled. He dropped to 1-2 and he gave up nine runs in 3 2/3 innings. Ryan Klosterman drove in the only run and the team was held to four hits.
The second game was closer but the end result was the same. John Schneider singled and scored a run while Jesse Litsch dropped to 5-2 on the season. He gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.
The Fisher Cats lost to Binghamton 8-4 with Yusaku Iriki geting hit hard. He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks with a strikeout in 4 1/3 innings. It was his first start after getting promoted from Dunedin.
John Schneider doubled, drove in two runs and scored once. Dustin Majewski went two for four with a solo homerun in the loss.
Kyle Yates had a rough start in the Fisher Cats 7-4 loss to Reading. He gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in four innings and the loss dropped him to 0-2 on the season.
Aaron Mathews had a nice day at the plate. He went two for three with a homerun and two runs scored. John Schneider singled, drove in a run and scored.
The Fisher Cats got some great pitching in their doubleheader against the Defenders it’s just unfortunate that the hitting wasn’t there as well. Still, they did win one, they just need a shutout to get it.
David Purcey was phenomonal in his seven inning complete game shutout in the first game. Even more impressive, he shutout eleven and he’s struck out eighteen versus two walks in 13 1/3 total innings and he’s given up just one earned run. The lone run of the game came on a sac. fly by Robinson Diaz that scored Wayne Lydon.
In the second game, the pitching gave up just two runs but the hitters scored just one. The lone run was an RBI double by John Schneider and a solid start by Jesse Litsch went to waste. He gave up just two unearned runs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings.
A ninth inning run off of Tracy Thorpe cost the Fisher Cats another win. Ricardo Romero didn’t help things though with a poor start. He gave up four runs on seven hits and four walks with just a single strikeout.
Aaron Mathews went one for two with a double, two walks and two runs. Both Wayne Lydon and John Schneider had two hits and an RBI in the loss.
