The Doubledays lost game of their three game playoff series with Oneonta in a tough eleven inning pitcher’s duel that saw them pick up just four hits the entire game. Three of the four hits were doubles and Adam Calderone was the only hitter to reach base twice with a single and a walk.
Some pretty good pitching to went to waste because the first ten innings of this game was a shutout even for Auburn. Brett Cecil took the loss though and he gave up the lone run in the eleventh inning.
Three errors led to four unearned runs as Staten Island beat Auburn 9-5. Shane Benson took the loss and he fell to 1-1 on the season. He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
Adam Calderone belted a three run homer in the loss. Victor Santana went two for three with a solo homerun and two runs.
This was kind of a trend with the Jays minor league affiliates but the Auburn Doubledays were shutout on just four hits. Adam Calderone was the only hitter with two hits and the only hitter with an extra base hit with his two doubles.
Kyle Walter took the loss and he fell to 0-1 on the season. He gave up three runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
Kurt Isenberg threw a fantastic game as Dunedin beat Lakeland 8-1. He gave up just three hits and two walks with ten strikeouts in seven innings of work and the win improved his record to 1-2.
Adam Calderone and Al Quintana each had four hits in the game. Calderone finished with two RBIs and a run while Quintana scored twice.
Orlando Trias dropped to 0-2 on the season with a lackluster start against Sarasota. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.
Anthony Hatch drove in the lone run on a sac. fly. Adam Calderone finished the game with three hits.
